Athletics 2009-'10
The Munster Cross Country Championships took place at C.I.T. on Friday 26th February. Three Rockwell students had qualified for these through the East Munster Championships. They were: Liam Fahey (Minor Boys), Cliona Doyle (Intermediate Girls) and Conor Prendergast (Senior Boys). None of the three qualified for the All-Ireland Championships but that was not surprising in view of the fact that the youngsters had received the swine-flu vaccination the day before! Each of them finished mid-table in his/her respective race.
The Munster Indoor Sports took place on Tuesday 2nd March. Cliona Doyle, competing in the Girls’ 1200 Metres competition, and Liam Fahey, competing in the Minor Boys’ Shot competition, each won the gold medal.
