The Boarding School

Introduction
Rockwell College offers residential accommodation for 150 boys on a 7day and 5 day basis. There are 50 places for boys on a 5 day basis and 100 for 7 day accommodation. Girls seeking residence on a five day and a seven day basis are accommodated locally by approved guest families. Approx 60 of the 150 boarders are from outside Ireland. We have students from countries such as U.K., Germany, Spain, Luxemburg, France, Belgium, Russia, U.S., Egypt, Bahrain, Japan and Hong Kong. In this regard Rockwell College provides an international multicultural environment for all its students and most particularly for its residential students.
Management
Rockwell College boarding school is under the supervision of the college patron, the Des Places Educational Association. The college patron appoints a committee to include the College, the College Principal and the Director of Boarding to manage the halls of residence. Great care is taken in the employment of a competent staff in the supervision of boys and young men. Rockwell strives to provide a "home away from home" atmosphere for all boarding students, where they can feel accepted, safe, comfortable and valued.
Sport
Residential students are encouraged to get involved in organized sports in the school, such as Rugby, Soccer, Basketball and Golf. The sports facilities in Rockwell College include all weather hockey and soccer pitches, 3 outdoor and 2 indoor Basketball Courts, 3 tennis courts, Gymnasium, Swimming pool, 9 hole golf course and 8 Rugby pitches.
Weekends in Rockwell
Rockwell College students do not attend class at weekends but there are a number of other activities that we include on Saturday mornings. At different times of the year students will attend arts and crafts, guitar lessons etc. Each Saturday evening we have supervised trips to the cinema and each Sunday students are permitted to go to our nearest town, Cashel, for a period of time in the afternoon. At different stages throughout the year we will go on day trips, which include ‘paintballing’, hill walking and "go karting".
