Rockwell won the All-Ireland Schools’ Show Jumping Championship which took place in Enniscorthy on Saturday 1st May. The winning team was: Ethan Aherne, Robert O’Donnell, Sorocha Sweeney and Lauren Duggan. In achieving this victory, the team emulated the success of the Rockwell team which won this competition in 2006. Of 38 teams, Rockwell was the only won to have three clear rounds – zero faults – with Ethan and Robert being the only two riders to jump faultless rounds in the jump-off. Congratulations to the team and their enthusiastic mentor, Mr. Dermot Brislane.

National Hunter Trials
The Schools’ National Hunter trials took place in Tramore on Saturday 14th March. Rockwell was well-represented. Robert O’Donnell, Eddie Phelan, Sorcha and Saidhbh Sweeney, Joss Murray, Jamie Devereux, Paul Kelly and David Bergin participated. EQUESTRIAN REPORT: SEPTEMBER - December 2008
With the enthusiastic encouragement of Mr. Dermot Brislane Rockwell has been represented at a number of Show Jumping events during the course of the first term. At a number of these competitions two teams have been entered under the names of the colours of the school: Team Blue and Team White. For example at the Clonshire Equestrian Centre in mid-October, Rockwell’s Team Blue finished first, and Rockwell’s Team White finished as runners up! Team Blue on that occasion was: Kevin Bartley, Robert O’Donnell, Paul Kennedy and Lauren Bartley. Team White was: Sorcha Sweeney, Saidhbh Sweeney, Paul Maher and Lauren Duggan.
At the Mullingar competition held on Saturday 8th November, Rockwell was represented by just one team: Team Blue. Robert, Paul and the two Bartleys represented the school. But on Sunday 23rd November, the school was again represented by two teams at the Warrington Equestrian Centre in Kilkenny. Team Blue was composed of: Kevin Bartley, Lauren Bartley, Robert O’Donnell and Paudge Bolger. Team White was composed of Ethan Ahearne, Lauren Duggan, Saidhbh Sweeney and Sorcha Sweeney. On neither occasion, unfortunately, did our team succeed in reaching the jump-off stage of the competitions.
On Sunday 7th December, in the latest round of the Hoofprints Schools' Showjumping Competition held at Ballinamona, Rockwell was represented by a team composed of Ethan Ahearne, Kevin Barton, Lauren Barton and Robert O'Donnell. The team had no faults in the first two rounds, as a result of which the team got into the jump-off against the clock. Here the team had four faults, finishing in fifth place overall.
