Open Day and Scholarship 2010

The Scholarship Examination

This examination is not an entrance examination to the College.  It is strictly a scholarship examination.  It may, however be helpful as a guide to a student's ability when he/she opts to take a place in the school.
The following Scholarships are offered by examination to be held at the College on-

Saturday 23rd January 2010:  Scholarship Examination- 10.00 a.m. – 12.45 p.m.

                  
  1. ONE full Scholarship
  2. THREE  ½ Scholarships

Scholarship values are equivalent to the value of the Day Boarders fee and do not include extras.  The Scholarship covers Transition Year for those who choose to avail of it but does not include the option of a Repeat Year at any level.

CONDITIONS
1. Candidates must be eligible to commence Secondary School in September
     2010 and should be under the age of 13 on 1st January, 2010.
2.  The Examination will consist of three written tests of 40 minutes each in
     Irish, English and Mathematics, respectively.
3.  The award of a particular Scholarship will be dependent on a certain 
      standard of answering.  The College authorities are the final adjudicators   
      of this standard.
The award of the Scholarship shall be subject to annual review and will be consequent on a candidate’s overall performance in conduct and work.
4.  Scholarship offers which are not taken up may be awarded to other
     students at the discretion of the School Authorities.
5.  The Entry Fee of €35 is required which will serve also to cover Lunch and    
     afternoon tea available to the candidates and parents who accompany them on
     Examination Day.
Please Note:

  1. Sample papers of previous examinations are available to Principals of the local schools.
  2. Further instructions will be sent on receipt of completed application form which should be returned with Entry Fee to : The Principal, Rockwell College, Cashel, Co. Tipperary as soon as possible.

OPEN DAY:
The College OPEN DAY begins on the same date at 2.00 p.m.  Parents will be invited to an introductory meeting at 2.15 p.m.  There will be a video presentation of College facilities at around 3.15 p.m., after which light refreshments will be served to all.   Parents and Students involved in the Scholarship Examination should note that all matters relating to Open Day begin at 2.00 p.m. and are not presented while the Scholarship Examination is in progress.
