Hurling/Gaelic 2010-11
The Annual Newbridge tournament took place at Newbridge College on Wednesday 18th May with teams from Newbridge, Glenstal, Roscrea and Rockwell participating. This competition is for Under 14 boys. Rockwell emerged victorious to take the Shield. The Rockwell defence was outstanding throughout the competition.
The annual Tipperary Schools’ U.14 Tournament took place in Rockwell on Wednesday 11th May. Over a dozen schools participated, with some schools having multiple entries. Rockwell entered three teams: one in each of the three competitions, the Cup, the Shield and the Plate. Rockwell’s Shield team reached the final of that competition where it was defeated by Comeragh College, Carrick on Suir. The Cup team was beaten in the semi-final by eventual winners, High School Clonmel; while the Plate team was beaten in the quarter-final.
The semi-final of the Fitzgerald Cup (Tipperary Schools, U.17) between Rockwell and Borrisokane took place in Thurles on Friday 1st April. The game ended with a single point victory for the North Tipperary team, 2-7 to 1-9.
On Tuesday 15th March, Rockwell played the second round of the Fitzgerald Cup against Scoil Ruain. Rockwell won 3/10 to 3/7. Scorers included Philip Quirke (1 goal 2 points), Elliott Mulcahy and T.J.Ryan (1 goal each), Eamonn Morrissey (6 points) and Conor Moloughney (1 point).
Rockwell Under 17 team defeated Comeragh College in the second round of the Fitzgerald Cup on Thursday 3rd March by 4-15 to 1-8. Philip Quirke with 4 goals and 1 point was top scorer for Rockwell. Others to impress included Liam Murchan, Elliot Mulcahy, T.J.Ryan etc.

A First Year team took part in a hurling blitz tournament at Clonmel on Tuesday 20th October. The team had victories over St. Ailbe’s, Tipperary and Clonmel V.S.
