Tennis 2011-2012

The Boys’ Under 16 team travelled to Ballincollig Community School on Monday 16th April where the team won 3 matches and lost 2. Bill O’Brien won his singles’ match 6/0 6/4; Niall Murphy & Jorge Martin won their doubles’ match 5/7 6/1 10/6 (championship tie break); Bill and Jorge won their doubles’ match 6/1 1/6/ 11/9. Alex Marshall was beaten 6/2 6/4 (singles) and 7/5 5/7 10/7 in his doubles’ match with Niall.

The Under 16 Boys team played their final round-robin game against Rochestown College on Friday 27th April. Alex Marshall (3/6 2/6)and Bill O’Brien (4/6 2/6) lost their singles matches; Liam Fahey and James Heffernan (0/6 0/6) lost the doubles. Alex and James (3/6 1/6), Bill and Liam (2/6 6/3 7/10) lost the reverse doubles.

On Thursday 8th March, the Boys’ U.16 tennis team was defeated by Waterpark in the Munster Schools’ Cup Competition. Alex Marshall was defeated in his No.1 singles match, 6/4, 4/6, 10/8. Bill O’Brien won his No.2 singles match, 6/4, 4/6, 10/8. Niall Murphy and Jorge Martin were defeated in their doubles match, 6/3, 5/7, 10/7. Alex and Niall won their doubles match, 6/7, 6/4, 10/1; while Bill and Jorge were beaten 6/1, 6/3. Ballincollig C.S. and Rochestown College are the two other schools in Rockwell’s section. Two teams will qualify for the semi-final.
