Summer Developments
August, 2009
Increasing enrolment has obliged us to create an additional 1st year group. The College is operating at full capacity in both the day and residential facilities. The educational cutbacks oblige us to monitor our timetable carefully and to put extra privately paid staff in place.
Throughout the summer we have continued to develop College facilities, as promised, and in keeping with development pledges and support from Parents and Past Pupils. These developments include work in the following areas:
- Reception Area - refurbishment
- College Library – refurbishment
- Student toilets – re-tiling and flooring
- New refrigeration facilities for catering
- Extra security measures
- New signage
- New railings adjacent to main gates
- New disability toilet
- New Ban Marie Units, hot cupboards, glass sneeze screens, shelving units etc in refectory and kitchen areas.
- Network cabling project to improve I.T Facilities.
- Painting of Exterior Hall of Residence.
- Replacement of (60) carpets in Residential College to all dormitories.
- Installation of Cinema Facility in Residential College.
In addition to these projects, we have administered the Summer
School throughout July and August, hosting an average of 300 students each week. The Summer Camp is managed and licensed by the College.
During the coming weeks we will complete the tendering process for the creation of a new Lecture Hall and I.T facility. We secured a grant from the Department of Education and Science to progress this work. I intend that the work will be completed throughout the coming months.
