Student Leadership

Rockwell’s prefect system is where our senior school supports our first-year students, especially with the transition from primary to secondary school and boarding school life. Each year, a number of senior students, both male and female apply for and are selected to be prefects. This important role ensures younger students have the support of an older student who they may be more comfortable speaking with and sharing any if they have concerns or issues. 

The Student Voice of juniors and seniors is evident in their valuable participation in the formulation of College & Residence policies. Our student leaders engage in formally representing the College at public events, exemplifying our ethos through charitable works and advising management when required on the review and formulation of College and Residence procedures. 

The Council is made up of representative boarders from every year group and meets on a monthly basis with the Residence Manager. Boarders are nominated onto the council by their peers at the start of the year and are expected to regularly chat with each other so that they can bring any suggestions or issues to the council meetings to be discussed. 

This is an opportunity for the boarders to discuss with staff any suggestions or thoughts they have for the residence and boarding life. We value the input of all our boarders in the day to day running of the house, and the Boarders Council ensures that their opinions are valued and listened to.

Our student leaders engage in formally representing the College at public events, exemplifying our ethos through charitable works and advising management when required on the review and formulation of College and Residence procedures.
